Arthur Edward Smith, 73 of 125 N. 13th East Street, Utah industrialist and active Mason, died Friday evening while on a vacation in Santa Ana, California. Death was attributed to a heart ailment.
Mr. Smith, a prominent figure in intermountain mining circles was a partner in the Lang Company.
A resident of Salt Lake City since 1895, he was native of Danbury, Conn.
Mr. Smith was active in serveral civic clubs, among them Salt Lake Rotary Club of which he was a past president, Sons of the American Revolution, Alta Club and Fort Douglas Golf Club. He was also a member of Utah Society of Professional Engineers.
He was past master of Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 2 F & A M, past potentate of El Kalah Shrine Temple and a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Born Feb 19, 1880, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Arthur Smith. He married Fannie Elza Durant on July 15, 1902 in Danbury.
In addition to his widow he is survived by a son and two daughters, Edward D. Smith, Mrs. Harriet Lovinger and Mrs. Laura F. Nortz, all of Salt Lake City.
