Amanda Elfrida Laurine Charlotte NILSDATTER
Grandmother had a fire in her apartment in Harstad in 1966. All photo alblums, letters and documents was lost during this fire. She then moved to Oslo to my oldest sister, Synnova and she died there.
Grandmother was such a warm hearted, loveable person. As a child, I stayed with her for long periods of time as my mother had to go away to work. My mother was a more “distant” person and I never knew my father or grandfather. Elfrida, my grandmother and I had such fun! She was an Adventist and a true believer, but she loved music, and at the age of I learned how to walta - standing on her feet while she danced with me. I never forgot the steps even though waltzing was an old-fashion. I never danced in my youth. She taught me how to read at the age of 4-5. I know a lot of songs - for children and religious songs- thanks to her. She played guitar, harmonica and clarinet. When I was little, my grandmother and I were the most important people in this world! She probably spoiled me in some ways, but she also made me very independent and maybe strong for the problems to come. She was the main reason for me to start researching my ancestors and to get to know Elfrida better. Information from Thea Irene Bronx Rasmussen. DATE OF ENTRY: 11 Oct 2001I really hope my grandmother knows about my gratitude towards her.
