Martin Lewis is a master of many magical effects. One effect that he has taken to new heights is the "Egg-Bag" routine. The egg-bag he uses is one of the most deceptive ever created. Still, Martin's most fames magical creation is "Cardiographic." The effect was first published in the "Linking Ring" magazine. In this effect Martin has someone select a card from a deck of cards. After he shows the card to the audience, Martin picks up a sketch pad. By magical means he divines the identity of the selected card.

First he draws the outline of a card on the sketch pad. Then he concentrates on an image of a card and draws the pips and indices on the sketch pad. However, the audience exclaims that the drawing is not the selected card. Of course this news does not disturb Martin, as he deftly adds a few extra lines to the drawing. This turns the single card into a deck of cards.

Holding the sketch pad squarely to the audience, Martin commands the selected card to rise. Slowly a card begins to rise from the deck. When the card has risen from the deck, the audience can see that it is the selected card. Martin then tears the drawing from the sketched pad, signs it, and gives the drawing to a spectator as a souvenir. When the spectator examines the drawing, it is found that it is a normal drawing without any moving parts.

Martin has a unique way of looking at magic. When most magicians are thinking up new card switches, Martin thinks up a card with a switch on it. When he flips the switch, the card switches into another one. Seeing what other ingenues effects that Martin will come up with will be interesting.
