MAGICIANS ASSEMBLY

I.M.A. NEWS

January 2nd, our first 1969 meeting, nineteen members met in the Oak Room at the Cottonwood Mall. The meeting began at 8:00 p.m. as President KROLL welcomed all those in attendance. Usual matters of business were taken up and we especially welcomed REED NEUBERGER of Logan; and MARK & MARLYNN EVANS, who were on a stop-over on their way to Washington on their continuing National School Assembly Tour. We persuaded MARK to give us a talk on their experiences and showwork. He thoroughly entertained us as he reported on the busy routine that keeps them on the move.

"A Review on Potter"

We received some very fine comments and praise on the acting ability and progress of one DAVID JOHN POTTER in his most recent endeavors in the Walt Disney Film "Wonderful World of Color." We are proud of this young man and are happy that he is a member of I.M.A.

"U.S.A Tour"

News has reached us that CARL WAGNER is performing music for the National Safety Council, will be covering all the U.S. on this tour.

"Unfortunate Incident"

Of most recent news is that of ANDY ANDERDON who has experienced a very bad break in the knee with other severe injuries to his leg. This was caused by a fall on some steps in his home. We are informed that he is in a cast and will be out of circulation for quite some time. We hopy for a speedy recovery of the Professor and that he will be back with us soon.

"Wilford Talks About Reveen"

Disappointment prevailed as we learned through WILFORD that REVEEN the hypnotist would not be visiting us this night, iasmuch as his presence at a press conference would be extended much later than he had expected. Maybe next time.

"The Evening's Entertainment"

Vice Pres. PHARES HORMAN was the emcee and introduced KERRY SOMMERS. Kerry opened with cane to silk, and then did a multi-floral production. Vari-silk productions from a shoe box followed. It is believed that this is a "Sommers" original. This was a very clean loadlift, very well handled, no expose from any angle. He next followed with a silk penetration from a glass and then a very unusual act in coins from silk. A special for this night, an ungimmicked card in balloon effect, then diminishing cards, and magnetic match box.

PHARES HORMAN tickled our funny bones in girdle-bustin' laugh-o-dyllics as he performed a coin count comedy with two spectators in a be-goggled laugh-o-rama of coin-flight-flicker-ews. And that was that. (Real nice-size tray)

ERNESTO came on with his never-untiring rope work, effecting a few new twists with dissolving knots, rings on rope, ring escape and other entertaining moments of ropeology.

WILFORD rounded off the evening's performance with card close-up, four-ace effects, spelling magic, and other good card magic.

Refreshments were served and enjoyed.

REMINDER: Let's not drop our membership. Some dues are still due.

NEWS OF I.M.A. MEMBERS

CRAIG MILLS - Did a show for a Dramatics Clud, and entertained at a birthday party.
PETE BORDEAUX - Rumor, Selling out and move to West Coast?
ERNESTO - a Prudential Show and one for Larsen Equipment Co.
WILFORD HINKSON - Very busy all month with four or five full evening shows.
EVAN HOLLADAY - A show in Utah County (a good turn fill-in for the Professor during this recuperation.)

EDITORIAL COMMENT - Seems to be to this ole sage that our good President and Secretary are shouldering more that their share of the hosting of our monthly meetings. A requirement of our membership was that we all share a turn. Let's make it a point to volunteer. If this assumption is incorrect, Mr. President, deal me a joker out 'O' the blue deck at the Feb. meeting.

Throw away that Fuu jumbo crazy card and the yak yak talking teeth and let's get with it with "Tip O the Month." A common straight pin fixed behind the coat lapel is useful to Magicians who use a pellet switch as the pin will hold the pellet until needed.
