Christmas Party

On the snowy evening of December 10, we held our annual family Christmas party. We had a great meal. Thanks to everybody who contributed food to the party. Following dinner, we held an open performance.

Len Swinyer was first to perform by showing us a variation on cups and balls, using a jigger and stuffed olives, which he ate, and still found under the jigger!

Skylar Gunthar

Dayn Holbrook

Skylar Gunthar performed a dice box routine.

The Great Dayn performed a variation of "ring off the rope" using a shoelace.

Jim Davis

Kent Bartlett

Jim Davis performed his ESP business card trick.

Kent Bartlett performed a card in banana routine.

Marshall Turner performed a comedy routine with the king of hearts and an insurance policy. He also magically produced a royal flush in spades.

Eric Wanner

Eric Wanner performed "You Won't Believe Your Eyes" by changing blank cards to all aces. He also vanished Thalia's wedding ring.

Paul Draper

Skylar Gunther and Jess Cone

Paul Draper demonstrated his psychic powers.

Jess Cone performed Roy Cooper's "Mojo Boogie Boxes.”

Steve Simbeck borrowed a single jumbo card and regular deck of cards. A card was randomly selected from the deck (or at least that’s what he said), which somehow magically matched the jumbo card.

Following the performances, we had our annual gift exchange. The gifts generated lots of laughter, a couple of groans, and even some envy. There were many interesting and exciting gifts exchanged, including: a 5" TV, magic tricks & books, a magic video, tools, and some unforgettable dishes. Paul Draper was desperate to trade the dishes, so he tried to convince everyone they would look better next to their Christmas tree than next to his Menorah! Finally everyone ended up with something they could live with.

It was a successful and entertaining evening.
