The annual Christmas party was a roaring success. The evening started with a potluck dinner where everyone got a chance to renew friendships and create new ones. The food was bountiful, and the conversations were engaging. Everyone should thank Leonard & Thalia Swinyer for permitting us to use their home for this festive evening. Their quiet support, and willingness to open their home to all of us, has made our club a great success. Thank you, Leonard & Thalia for all you have done.

Following dinner the entertainment began. Fellow magicians got a chance to share their talents with each other. Plus, new prospective members introduced themselves and shared their love of magic by doing a few tricks. Ron Seward was the Master of Ceremonies, and started the entertainment by levitating a glass of Pepsi off the table and floating it into a spectator's hand. Still, that was only the start. Ron Nelson and company (i.e., Liz Mauzey, Rebecca Nelson, and Cheryl Smith) did a plethora of illusions. In these illusions animals of all kind would materialize and then disappear. Leonard Swinyer also performed for us, and did a linking ring routine with only three steel rings. His grace and skill with them were a marvel to behold.

A gift exchanged completed the evening. Everyone had a chance to select a gift or take a gift from some else who had already opened one. The two most sought after gifts were a set of dishes, and a book by Al Baker called "Magical Ways and Means." The book included Howard Thurston's souvenir card as a book mark.

By the time you get this meeting report it will be a new year, so Happy New Year! Hopefully this message will find you in good cheer. If not the following information should cheer you up. Because the coming year will hold some great surprises. Starting with a lecture by Michael Close during our January 18, 2000 meeting.
