Jess Cone, Eric Wanner, Ron E. Seward, Murlin Ray Wenzel, Mel Ota,
Dan Olsen, Ed Rock, Danny Rees, Esther Rees, Rebecca Nelson, Ron
Nelson, Dan Paulus, Quentin Smith, Len Swinyer, Michael J. Fraughton,
Jim Williams, Dian Thomas, Steve Simbeck, Paul Brewer, and Anthony
White attended the meeting. Anthony White was kind enough to provide
refreshments. Thank you, Anthony.
Officers for the year 2000 were elected. Eric Wanner was elected
to President with Ron E. Seward as vice-president. Ed Rock was
elected to Secretary. The members reelected Harry Schumann to
Treasurer, and Anthony White to Sergeant-at-Arms. Please congratulate
the new officers when you see them, and give them your support for
the coming year.
Eric Wanner introduced a new prospective member Derek Hauser. He
did several card tricks, "Triumph," "Ambitious
Card," and three cards "Monty." While doing
"Monty," Derek challenged Eric Wanner to figure out the
identity of the final card. It was an ingenious way to get Eric to
sponsor him. Still, he should never have betted against another
magician. Eric guessed that the card was no longer the Ace, but was
instead the Jack which he had signed during Ambitious Card. Eric
guessed correctly, and Derek lost Eric as a sponsor. However, Derek
was not lacking for sponsors.
Eric then did his version of "Scotch and Soda" with
Quentin Smith. Ron Nelson followed Eric by doing an "Electrifying
Dollar Bill" trick. Ron borrowed a dollar and rubbed it to
build up an electric charge. While everyone watched closely, the
dollar bill then started to float. The next performer was Ron Seward.
He got up and took five one-dollar bills and magically converted them
into five twenty-dollar bills. Of course Ron should have quit while
he was ahead. However, with a pass of his hand the twenties returned
to ones.
Anthony White did "Incredible Stop Light," and Jess Cone
demonstrated how a short change artist worked. Plus, Michael J.
Fraughton did an amazing card effect called "Reshuffle."
Dan Paulus did an eye popping gag, where he pushing his right eye
in, and caused it to appear in his right cheek. When he pushed on his
right cheek, it popped to his left. Sounds kind of dumb. Still, he
surprised everyone when an eye spurted from his mouth to bounce onto
the ground. Now that Dan had every body's attention, he then did a
card trick called "Reflex." Proving that the hand is still
faster that the eye. Even when you have an extra one bouncing around.
The evening was rounded up by Danny Rees and Mel Ota. Danny
performing the card trick "Out of this World." While Mel
Ota converting a single two-dollar bill into two one-dollar bills.
Mel then ended the evening by doing the card effect "Card Warp." |
