Jess Cone, Eric Wanner, Ron Seward, Robert Blackham, Dan Olsen, Ed
Rock, Danny Rees, Esther Rees, Eric Wanner, Len Swinyer, Thalia
Swinyer, Charles Heller, Michael J. Fraughton, Adam Meziani, Don
Lujan, Inabelle Lujan, and Anthony White attended the meeting. Eric
Wanner was kind enough to provide refreshments. Thank you, Eric.
Jess Cone was the Master of Ceremonies and started the evening out
by introducing Eric Wanner. Eric took a blue handkerchief and placed
it in a clear jug, which he corked. This sealed the handkerchief in
the jug. When Eric turned on some music, the handkerchief stood up in
the jug and began to dance to the music. Charles Heller then followed
Eric. Charles showed us a paddle with a picture of Dracula on both
sides. However, when Charles held up Dracula to the mirror Dracula
had no reflection. Charles then pushed a small wood stake through a
hole in center of the paddle. By doing this Dracula was destroyed,
and his image disappeared from the paddle.
Jess then introduced Ed Rock who performed an illusion with a
guillotine. Ed had a spectator place their arm in the guillotine. The
guillotine came crashing down it. However, it passed right through
spectator's arm without damaging it. Don Lujan followed Ed and showed
us his Port-a-John. Don had a card selected randomly from a deck,
which was then placed back into the center of the deck. Then Don
showed the Port-a-John was coin operated. So a spectator inserted a
coin into the coin slot. At which point the Port-a-John bursted
apart, and the preselected card appeared in the center of the rubble.
He also showed us his Bug Servant which would find a preselected card
from the middle of a deck. Paul Draper did a book test when a
randomly selected book was chosen along with a page number. Finally a
single word was selected from the page. This word matched exactly to
the word that Paul had predicted on a piece of paper.
Jess then introduced Michael J. Fraughton. Michael shared with us
an illusion he had just created. A good name for the illusion would
be "Voodoo, You Do, Behooves You." In essence it was an
exercise to prove that Voodoo really exists. It was an uncomplicated
illusion, but Michael's skill and showmanship captivated everyone,
and brought Voodoo alive.
In the spirit of Halloween, the next performer Ron Seward did
"Close's Dungeon." In this trick a volunteer searches a
dungeon for lost treasure. However, the lucky adventure is only
fortunate enough to escape with his life, and a little treasure. Jess
Cone then completed the evening by bringing out his Haunted Deck. It
was an amazing deck of cards. Where a ghost would reshuffle the deck,
turn cards over, and even turn all the cards to the same one. |
