We had a great turn out for Performance Night, including several new magicians seeking to join. Ron E. Seward, Jr. was the Magician in Charge and introduced the performers. Ruth Sulik was the first and she started the show with "Poky the Rabbit." A cute little trick where Poky's head keeps getting cut off, but by paying attention he never seems to lose it. Ron then introduced Chris Kenney. Chris performed some mental magic with cards. Steve Simbeck followed with "Triathlon," a triple card locating trick. Jess Cone performed an amazing coin assembly. Dan Olsen started with a simple card that became an "Ambitious Card." And Leonard Swinyer followed Dan by showing that his pet snake "Viper" can find any ambitious card, or even a signed card.

Ron Seward then performed his "Sliding Die Box" routine. He followed this by demonstrating "Copenetro" where several half dollars disappeared from his hand to visually appear in an enclosed shot glass. Jim Davis performed several card tricks including "Three Card Monty." Murlin Wenzel did some mental magic with several white pearls and one black pearl. He randomly passed out the pearls to the spectator, and Murlin then determine who had the black pearl. Ron Nelson performed some transposition money magic. He also tore the center of a dollar bill out, and then magically restored it. At this point it was Intermission, and Tamera Wilson provided refreshments. Thank you, Tamera.

Anthony White started the second half of the show by showing and a scarf could magically tie itself. Harry Schumann told a romantic story, and showed that the Swinyers were a perfect match. Quentin Smith showed use some card manipulation, and Ed Rock pulled a signed card out of a deck enclosed by a silk scarf. Benjamin Yang performed an amazing card effect, where a preselected card appeared in an unexpected place. Don Lujan showed us a knotty rope trick. He then demonstrated how he got hitched to Inabelle. He still can't untie that knot.

Eric Wanner did "Light Fight" where a glowing ball mysteriously floated about the stage. The ball seemed to have a life of it own. Kerry Summers did some amazing card manipulation, where cards would appear out of thin air, or shrink to extremely small sizes. Ron Carrasco magically joined three ropes into one long rope. The show was rounded up by Kim Walkowsky. He showed us a misdirected arrow, where his arrow never seemed to point in the correct direction.

All the magicians were winners, and each performer received a prize. Don & Inabelle Lujan, and Steve Simbeck donated prizes. Thank you, Don, Inabelle and Steve.

Our club meetings are a great chance for getting advice, and sharing magical effects. It is an opportunity for all of use to grow as magicians. We should not advance our own growth at the expense of others. Please respect the intellectual rights of other magicians, and only use their patter or effects with their permission.
