February 16, 1999

OFFICERS

Ruth Sulik, President
Eric Wanner, Vice-President
Harry Schumann, Treasurer
Ron E. Seward Jr., Secretary

Attending the meeting was Anthony White, Ron Seward, Jim Davis, Ruth Sulik, Marlene Fish, Carol Esterreicher, Steve Simbeck, Murlin Wenzel, Dan Olsen, Ron Carrasco, Kerry Summers, Ron Nelson, Ed Rock, John Maynard, Benjamin Yang, Becky Nelson, Liz Mauzey, Dave Johnson, Kim Walkowski, Chris Fair, Dan Paulus, Leonard Swinyer, Quentin Smith, and Don Lujan.

Ron Nelson

Ron Nelson was the Magician in Charge for this meeting. The topic for the meeting was on Home Made Magic. He shared with us his Squared Circle, Silk from a Sealed Tube, Chalk Paddle, Lost Soap, Magic Rope Knots, and Production Handkerchief. He created each great trick from items obtained from around the house. For example, the Sealed Tube was from the end of a vacuum hose.

Benjamin Yang

Ron Nelson encouraged all of us to get a notepad to write down our own magical ideas, and inspired us to be creative. He then had his assistant Benjamin Yang do a magic trick "The Yogurt of Terror." Benjamin Yang created this trick the day before from house hold items. This shows that we all can create magic.

Coral Esterreicher

Next Ron introduced Coral Esterreicher. She performed Past-your-eyes Milk where a carton of milk would appear and disappear in one of two cardboard tubes. The milk carton would even turn upside down. At this point of the meeting, we took a break and had refreshments. We would like to thank Ed Rock for providing refreshment.
Thank you, Ed.

Kim Walkowski

After the break, other magicians performed tricks they had created from items around the house. Kim Walkowski performed Wedlock where a lock becomes mysteriously locked around the stem of a wine glass.

Anthony White

Anthony White displayed how a spool that he tied up can escape without breaking the thread. Most people can push a straight pin through a match stick. Nevertheless, Steve Simbeck showed how he can push a match stick through a pin. Dan Paulus performed some Cheap Cheesy Minding Reading, and Leonard Swinyer share with us his Bengal Tiger Net.

Don Lujan drilled a hole through a balloon without popping it.

David Johnson

Don Lujan

David "Magic" Johnson rounded the evening up by showing how to make rope. He then took this home made rope to show us how to tie a thief's knot.
