The meeting began with the reading of a Thank You note from April
& Dan Paulus. The note said, "Please extend this thank
you' to all members of the IBM. All the kindness and hard work that
everyone put into the fund raiser for Dee at the Draper theater will
not be forgotten. The IBM has truly shown what it means to be a
Brotherhood.' Thank you all."
Congratulations to Eric Wanner and his wife on the birth of their
new son "Traeden Jace Wanner," and Brad & Alydia Barton
on the birth of their son "Garrett Bradley Barton."
The evening festivities started with performances from two
prospective members. Ed Rock started will his version of the
"Million Dollar Bill Switch," and then performed David
Roth's "Three Ball Routine." Quentin Smith followed Ed with
the "Retching Card Trick," where an audience selected card
is found in his mouth.
Nevertheless, that was only the start of a fantastic evening of
magic. Kim Walkowski told us how he started as a Professional
Pickpocket in a Nudist Colony where he learned from "Standing
Bare" (that's Bear) some Indian magic - which he then shared
with us by performing the "Ten Little Indians." Jess Cone
then folded a Dollar Bill into the shape of a Hat and of course being
a magician he found a Rabbit in it.
Electric Johnson performed "The Girls" by showing us
some pictures of his old girl friends. However, when his wife got
involved the beautiful girl he had selected turned into an old hag.
Mike Cottam showed us how to balance a coin on the end of his finger
and ended up punching his finger through the coin. Ron Nelson
demonstrated "The Bewildered Milkman." He then showed us
how to make the props for it from everyday household items.
John Maynard enacted a sophisticated routine "The Love of
Money" where he continually pulled money out of a silk scarf,
and ended by producing a wine glass. The evening was rounded up by
Ron Seward's performance of "Manhattan Short Change," and
"Dizzy Dollar." Where money would change from one
denomination to another, and sometimes disappearing only to appear
somewhere else. It just goes to show, take a few magicians and place
them in a room, shake well, and you end up with a fantastic evening
of entertainment and fellowship. |
